The sources and origins of Marxist-Leninist aesthetics

Edward Swiderski

pp. 47-67

Abstract

The following will hardly do justice to the real historical stimuli and sources of Marxist-Leninist aesthetics. All that is undertaken here is merely a report on the most evident and therefore most widely publicized precursors of Soviet aesthetics, viz. those belonging directly or by cooptation to the Marxist tradition.
