Schutz on lifeworld and cultural difference

Chung-Chi Yu

pp. 159-172

Abstract

The relationship between the lifeworld and cultural difference according to Schutz is discussed. The concept of "appresentation" that Schutz adapted from Husserl is essential for his lifeworld theory and interpretations of culture. Schutz's notion of "universal symbolism" is brought forth at the end in order to question the account's consistency.
