A correction of Schutz on culture for cultural science

Lester Embree

pp. 189-205

Abstract

What Schutz writes about culture is reviewed in detail and then the case is made that constructs are ultimately about pre-conceptual objects with basic characteristics of value and use that are learned and thus cultural but more fundamental than the understanding of subjective meanings or insider constructs.
