Cultural scientists and philosophers can meet in methodology

Lester Embree

pp. 101-107

Abstract

The letters exchanged by Alfred Schutz and Talcott Parsons show how they failed to communicate. Nevertheless, "methodology" is equivalent to Wissenschaftslehre or theory of science for Schutz, there is a place for it in science as well as in philosophy, and both interlocutors recognized it and could have conversed in the connection, but, again, did not.
